Basic Vanilla Ice Cream
2 c. milk
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/2 t. salt
2 c. half & half
1 T. vanilla
1 vanilla bean & caviar
4 c. whipping cream
Remove vanilla bean caviar and set aside. Place empty vanilla pod in small saucepan with milk. Scald milk until bubbles form around the edge of the pan. Remove from heat. Add sugar and salt. Stir until dissolved. Run mixture through a sieve and add to machine container. Stir in half & half, vanilla, vanilla bean caviar, and whipping cream. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Put machine container into ice cream maker and run as directed. Top with your favorite fixins.
**No vanilla bean? Just use 2 T. vanilla instead.**
